League of Legends tips for Casual Gamer

Some games are easy to play and win, while others like League of Legends need practice and skill to pick up. Regardless of whether you are a beginner finding the game a complex puzzle to unfold or a casual gamer looking for tactics and tricks to cut the edge, here are some tips to make you a better player and a valuable asset for your team.

Understanding your terrain.

The terrain is one of the few things provided by the game which you can use to your advantage. For example, you can use the bush to hide from enemies and possibly ambush them if you are skilled enough. Use minions to advance unto your enemies and make an easy kill or use turrets to make visible and fire on your enemies.

Understand your role as a team player.

Usually, you will be provided with various types of weaponry to fight against your enemy, including turrets and minions. To aid your chance of winning at any level and advancing to the next, it is important that you understand your role as a team player. Here, you need to determine your goal as a team and work together to achieve it. For instance, your goal would be to hit 5 of 6 minions. To achieve this, your contribution as a play and that of the team as a whole will determine the success or otherwise of the team.

Keep on farming.

This is one of the easiest ways to ensure you are well prepared to tackle your enemies.  When you stop farming at any given time in the game, you will be lowering your energy levels and making yourself vulnerable. Keep farming to ensure you are in your best form when time for team fighting comes.

Scottish Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop – ‘zero value report misrepresented creative industries’

Fiona Hyslop, the Scottish Culture and External Affairs Cabinet Secretary has said that the recent study in Economic Contribution which was carried out by the Scottish Enterprise and Creative Scotland has portrayed the computer and creative industry inappropriately. This admission was received in the form of a letter whose response was directed to Jack Irvine, founder of PR firm Media House. Jack Irvine had written to Hyslop to his concern at the study by Economic Contribution-An Economic Assessment of Creative and Arts Industries in Scotland. The study claimed that the economic contribution of the two industries was standing at zero.

The Scottish government claims that they will be undertaking further research in order to establish the impact the industries have in the economy. However, the letter highlights that the government does not have faith about the outcome of the research. Hyslop says to Irvine that the Computer Games and Creative industries were not well reflected in the study at the time of the study. Further on, she explained that the government has identified the potential misalignment of industrial topography and national statistics were largely based on some data that was carried out by National Statistics.

She further highlighted that the Digital and Audio Visual industries were the most relevant sectors and included Industrial Standard Classification codes under Software, Electronic and Computer Games Publishing. She said that this revealed £1B gross value and also offered over 19,000 jobs. Further on, Hyslop says that the government recognizes an overlap between the two domains and that they are working on identifying the exact number of jobs created by each sector.

She said that they are working with partners and other industry representatives such as TIGA who carried a research recently that indicates the Computer Games sector in Scotland accounts for around 600 jobs. Her conclusion stated that the approach taken by the government would go a long way to help identify the businesses that have not been included in the statistics as a result of accounting practices put in place.

Looking Back to the Future of Video Games

In the computer industry, most people tend to look forward to the future since they are involved in the art of making smarter software, faster clips and smaller gadgets, leading to the development of gaming and technology. But this is not always the case. The gaming industry has some developers who keep looking backwards and they are spending a large portion of their time working on the resurrection of games that are anything from 5 to 20 years old. To be specific, Kickstarter has seen to it that funding campaigns have been launched to update older version games like The Broken Sword, Wasteland and Carmageddon.

Another excellent example that reiterates this is the Xcom trend: Enemy Unknown. This game is an update of UFO classic and it was first released sometime in 1993. The player is put in charge of an Xcom military clandestine unit in order to save ensure that the earth is saved from an alien invasion. The strategy of this game, when mixed with resources for management make it cash strapped organization that can combat alien invasion successfully. There are several aspects that have been combined in order to make this one of the most valued and best video games. These include tight cash management, unrelenting pace by UFO and deadly combat as showcased by the effort of combined aliens. The question is, why anyone would want to make such a classic game better.

According to Garth De Angelis, producer working with UFO lead, the game was such a challenge and especially as far as video games dealing with civilization go. What is more, the biggest fans of the game were also found within Fireaxis and the remake of the game means that they can enjoy it once more but with better results. He said that one of the elements they wanted to maintain was maintaining the challenge of alien menace on earth. There is no question that there are going to be more resurrections in the coming years.

According to some reports, the new Fate collection – Fate 3 installations and the BFG Variation on the Xbox 360, leave old versions of Doomsday 1 & 2 unplayable. This was caused by a bug that was primarily spoken of via twitter and wario64.

Microsoft Ditches Facebook and Twitter Apps on Xbox Live

Microsoft has introduced a Dashboard that is not only new but mandatory for all owners of a Microsoft Xbox. This comes with some new features though these will vary in accordance to the type of user one is and this includes Gold paid for account holders and Silver free account holders. However, that is not all Microsoft has up its sleeve. It is also getting rid of two features which have not been put to use by gamers. These features are long standing components of Xbox 360 ecosystem -none other than the Twitter and Facebook Apps. It is time to say goodbye to these two as they are booted off the apps console by Microsofts latest update.

A representative from Microsoft as reported by Mitch Dyer of IGN, the company has decided to retire the two apps and the reasoning behind this is still unclear. However, this means they will be able to streamline the app functionality. For the last 3 years, these apps have been part of Xbox 360. Despite this fact, there is no proof or indication on how many gamers made use of the Twitter or Facebook apps, for the purpose of updating games consoles. In fact, not having a chatpad for typing status updates made it difficult to use the apps, with Facebook gamers were allowed to find Live Xbox friends in the actual world and the vice versa was also true.

Microsoft has indicated that Gold Gamers on Xbox live will be able to rely on Internet Explorer 9, a new app which will be part of the Dashboard update for updating their Twitter and Facebook statuses. The only setback now is the fact that now Xbox does not have solid ways of connecting to real time friends. True, the Facebook app did not provide this useful service, but twitter did. Now the only way to connect with friends is through use of gamertags and this is a setback compared to Valve’s Steam which makes it possible for players to find friends through Facebook connections and even assigns them nicknames after you have added them.
